Answer from my Cardiac Doctor: Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell). When you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) seeks level with the kidneys, it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier. true story: AM I A FIREMAN YET?
In Phoenix, Arizona, a 26-year-old mother stared down at her 6 year old son, who was dying of terminal leukemia.
Although her heart was filled with sadness, She also had a strong feeling of determination.
Like any parent, she wanted her son to grow up & fulfill all his dreams. Now that was no longer possible.. the leukemia would see to that. But she still wanted her son’s dream to come true.
She took her son’s hand and asked, ‘Billy, did you ever think about what you wanted to be once you grew up? Did you ever dream and wish what you would do with your life?’
Mommy, ‘I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up.’
Mom smiled back and said, ‘Let’s see if we can make your wish come true.’

she met Fireman Bob, who had a heart as big as Phoenix.
She explained her son’s final wish and asked if it might be possible to give her 6 year-old son a ride around the block on a fire engine.
Fireman Bob said, Look, we can do better than that. If you’ll have your son ready at seven o’clock Wednesday morning, we’ll make him an honorary Fireman for the whole day. He can come down to the fire station, eat with us, go out on all the fire calls, the whole nine yards!

About five minutes later a hook and ladder truck arrived at the hospital and extended its ladder up to Billy’s third floor open window——–
16 fire-fighters climbed up the ladder into Billy’s room with his mother’s permission, they hugged him and held him and told him how much they LOVED him.
With his dying breath, Billy looked up at the fire chief and said, ‘Chief, am I really a fireman now?’
‘Billy, you are, and The Head Chief, Jesus, is holding your hand,’
the chief said with those words, Billy smiled and said,
‘I know, He’s been holding my hand all day, and the angels have been singing..’

Wn we sit in our car and turn on the engine, we often, without thinking, turn on the A/C. Every time we do this, we put our health, and the health of the people around us, in danger.
This occurs because when we leave our car outside, we always close the windows. But even when we leave the car in the shade, it can accumulate 400-800 mg of benzene.
If you park the car in the sun, in a temperature higher than 16 degrees Celsius, the level of benzene can reach 2000-4000 mg, which is 40 times more than the permitted level.
By sitting in a car that had closed windows, people inhale the benzene, not knowing that this toxin affects the kidneys, the liver and the bone tissue. Furthermore, it takes a lot of time and effort for our organisms to eliminate it.

When I met him, He was a retired biochemist This elderly gent told me the man should have eaten more asparagus, and he wouldn’t have that problem.

you notice how your urine stinks after eating asparagus? I said well I never thought it was what I ate but yes it does have a pungent odor. Asparagus — Who knew?
My Mom had been taking the full-stalk canned style asparagus, pureed it and took 4 tablespoons in the morning and 4 tablespoons later in the day. She did this for over a month. She is on chemo pills for Stage 3 lung cancer in the pleural area and her cancer cell count went from 386 down to 125 as of this past week. Her oncologist said she will not need to see him for 3 months.

Several years ago I met a man seeking asparagus for a friend who had cancer. He gave me a copy of an article, entitled “Asparagus For Cancer” printed in the Cancer News Journal, December 1979. I will share it here, just as it was shared with me: I am a biochemist, and have specialized in the relation of diet to health for over 50 years. Several years ago, I learned of the discovery of Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S. that asparagus might cure cancer. Since then, I have worked with him on his project. We have accumulated a number of favorable case histories. Here are a few examples:
Case No. 1, A man with an almost hopeless case of Hodgkin’s disease (cancer of the lymph glands) who was completely incapacitated. Within 1 year of starting the asparagus therapy, his doctors were unable to detect any signs of cancer, and he was back on a schedule of strenuous exercise
Case No. 2, A successful businessman, 68 years old, suffered from cancer of the bladder for 16 years. After years of medical treatments, including radiation without improvement, he began taking asparagus. Within 3 months, examinations revealed that his bladder tumor had disappeared and that his kidneys were normal.
Case No. 3, On March 5th 1971, a man who had lung cancer was put on the operating table where they found lung cancer so widely spread that it was inoperable. The surgeon sewed him up and declared his case hopeless. On April 5th he heard about the Asparagus therapy and immediately started taking it. By August, x-ray pictures revealed that all signs of the cancer had disappeared. He is now back at his regular business routine.
Case No. 4, A woman had been troubled for a number of years with skin cancer. She developed different skin cancers which were diagnosed by the acting specialist as advanced. Within 3 months after beginning asparagus therapy, the skin specialist said her skin looked fine with no more skin lesions. This woman reported that the asparagus therapy also cured her kidney disease, which had started in 1949. She had over 10 operations for kidney stones, and was receiving government disability payments for an inoperable, terminal, kidney condition. She attributes the cure of this kidney trouble entirely to the asparagus treatment.
I was not surprised at this result as `The elements of materia medica’, edited in 1854 by a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, stated that asparagus was used as a popular remedy for kidney stones. He even referred to experiments, in 1739, on the power of asparagus in dissolving stones. Note the dates! —We would have other case histories but the medical establishment has interfered with our obtaining some of the records. I am therefore appealing to readers to spread this good news and help us to gather a large number of case histories that will overwhelm the medical skeptics about this unbelievably simple and natural remedy.
For the treatment, asparagus should be cooked before using. Fresh or canned asparagus can be used. I have corresponded with the two leading canners of asparagus, Giant and Stokely, and I am satisfied that these brands contain no pesticides or preservatives. Place the cooked asparagus in a blender and liquefy to make a puree. Store in the refrigerator. Give the patient 4 full tablespoons twice daily, morning and evening. Patients usually show some improvement in 2-4 weeks. It can be diluted with water and used as a cold or hot drink. This suggested dosage is based on present experience, but certainly larger amounts can do no harm and may be needed in some cases.
As a biochemist I am convinced of the old saying that `what cures can prevent.’ Based on this theory, my wife and I have been using asparagus puree as a beverage with our meals. We take 2 tablespoons diluted in water to suit our taste with breakfast and with dinner. I take mine hot and my wife prefers hers cold. For years we have made it a practice to have blood surveys taken as part of our regular checkups. The last blood survey, taken by a medical doctor who specializes in the nutritional approach to health, showed substantial improvements in all categories over the last one, and we can attribute these improvements to nothing but the asparagus drink. As a biochemist, I have made an extensive study of all aspects of cancer, and all of the proposed cures. As a result, I am convinced that asparagus fits in better with the latest theories about cancer.
Asparagus contains a good supply of protein called histones, which are believed to be active in controlling cell growth. For that reason, I believe asparagus can be said to contain a substance that I call cell growth normalizer. That accounts for its action on cancer and in acting as a general body tonic. In any event, regardless of theory, asparagus used as we suggest, is a harmless substance. The FDA cannot prevent you from using it and it may do you much good. It has been reported by the US National Cancer Institute, that asparagus is the highest tested food containing glutathione, which is considered one of the body’s most potent anticarcinogens and antioxidants.

Baby Oil
Baby oil is made of mineral oil. Mineral oil is something completely foreign to the human body. It is a synthetic oil which is a byproduct of the distillation of gasoline from crude oil. Wait, gasoline? crude oil? Why do we slather this stuff all over our children? Well, mostly because its cheap and abundant so manufacturers sell it to us and tell us its good for our skin. The honest truth is it is actually harmful to our health.
Mineral oil acts as a thin layer on the skin. It is difficult to absorb and clogs the pores, which slows the skin’s ability to eliminate toxins. Our skin plays a large roll in the body’s detoxification through sweat. If pores are blocked, the toxins remain in the body for a longer period of time. This alone can be harmful. Once the oil is absorbed, it is broken down by the liver and passes through the intestinal tract. Once in the intestines, mineral oil will absorb all of the fat-soluble vitamins found there. So all those organic foods and vitamin supplements you spend all your money on will get robbed by mineral oil and your body never gets the benefits.
There are claims that mineral oil can cause damage to the lungs, nervous system, skin, and even causes premature aging. An unbiased study released by the Cancer Prevention Coalition in June 2002, contained the following: “Cancer and health experts just concluded reviews that indicate mainstream cosmetics and personal hygiene products including lotions, soaps and shampoos, pose the highest risk exposures to the general public. This risk is higher than smoking.” It is clear that mineral oil and petrochemicals have no place in skin care products and should never be used on babies or adults.
What should you use instead of baby oil? There are so many amazing and natural oils that you can use in place of mineral oil or petroleum containing lotions. Some of my favorites are:
- Coconut oil
- Olive oil
- Shea butter
We love our stainless steel appliances, but with four little ones, even our “smudge resistant” brushed stainless steel ends up with streaks and smudges. The thought of paying for all of the stainless steel cleaner we would need to keep the appliances clean is not appealing to me, but fortunately we’ve found a great solution.
I now keep all of our appliances shiny and smudge free with baby oil:
1. Put a small amount of baby oil on a dry rag.
2. Rub it over the surface of the stainless steel in long, even strokes.
3. Buff off the excess baby oil with a second dry cloth. Be sure to get all of the excess baby oil off or it will attract lint.
4. Wipe with a dry cloth whenever you notice smudges or streaks.
5. Repeat every week or two as needed.
6. Occasionally, clean the whole thing with Windex to remove any excess oil and then start fresh.
Not only does the baby oil make the surface nice and shiny, but it also helps guard against fingerprints!

Dark Urine? Smelly Urine? Frequent Urination? What Your Pee Says About Your Health

You would be surprised by how much information can be gleaned from the urine that you produce each day (one to two quarts, on average). For example, the simple “dipstick” urine test that doctors often use to check for a urinary tract infection also can help them diagnose kidney disease, diabetes, cancer and other conditions. But there is more.
What you may not realize: If you know what to look for, you can tell a lot about your health just by being aware of the physical characteristics of your urine—such as color, smell and frequency. What to watch out for…
COLOR
When you’re healthy and drinking enough water, your urine should be mainly clear or straw-colored with just a hint of yellow. The yellow color comes from urochrome, a pigment produced by the breakdown of a protein in red blood cells.
Urine is naturally darker in the morning because you don’t drink water while you sleep. If a color change persists, however, it could be a problem. For example…
Brown or dark brown. Pay attention if your urine is dark for more than a week.
What this usually means: Liver disease. The liver normally breaks down and excretes bilirubin, a pigment that’s produced by the turnover of red blood cells. Patients with liver disease accumulate bilirubin. This initially will cause jaundice, a yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes. As more bilirubin accumulates, it can cause the urine to become brown. A combination of dark-colored urine and jaundice means that liver disease might be getting worse. See your doctor right away.
Dark-colored urine also can be a side effect of some antibiotics, laxatives and muscle relaxants. Eating large amounts of fava beans, rhubarb or aloe can cause brown urine as well. In some cases, dark-colored urine can signal kidney failure.
Red or pink. Urine that’s tinged with red or pink could simply mean that you have been eating beets. (The medical term for beet-induced urine changes is beeturia). Or it could mean that you’re urinating blood.
The amount of blood will affect the color. If the urine resembles cabernet wine, you’re bleeding a lot…urine that’s pinkish or just slightly red contains only traces of blood. A microscopic amount of blood won’t be visible—it can be detected only with a laboratory test.
What this usually means: Blood in the urine is always a problem. Make an appointment to see your doctor. If you see blood and it also hurts when you urinate, you could have an infection—in the urethra, bladder or kidney or even a malignancy in the bladder, for example. Bleeding without pain also can indicate these conditions.
Green. Though rare, a person’s urine can turn a greenish color.
What this usually means: Green urine can appear when you’ve consumed a chemical dye—from food coloring, for example, or from taking medications such as amitriptyline (Elavil), an antidepressant, or indomethacin (Indocin), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. In some cases, urine with a greenish tint can signal a urinary tract infection with certain bacteria (such as pseudomonas) that affect the color.
If your urine is greenish, increase fluid intake to see if it clears. If it doesn’t in two days, see your doctor or a urologist.
ODOR
If you’re healthy, your urine should be highly diluted, consisting of about 95% water, with only small amounts of dissolved chemical compounds and metabolic by-products. It typically has no—or only a faint—odor.
Of course everyone is familiar with the effect that asparagus and some other foods, such as onions or fish, have on the smell of one’s urine. This strong “rotten” smell is due to the chemical compounds in certain foods, particularly molecules that are not completely broken down by the body. The smell usually disappears within a day or so.
Some other less common urine smells include…
Ammonia-like. If your urine is concentrated, with a larger-than-normal amount of urea (a chemical compound in urine), you might smell an aroma that resembles ammonia. Or you might just notice that it has a stronger smell than usual.
What this usually means: Dehydration. The less water you drink, the higher the concentration of urea and other substances—and the stronger the smell. You can diagnose this yourself by drinking, say, one extra glass of water an hour for several hours to add water to your urine. The strong urine smell will probably disappear within a few hours. If it does not, see your doctor.
Foul-smelling. If your urine smells foul or unusual in any way for more than a few days, pay attention to the odor.
What this usually means: If it’s not caused by a food that you’ve eaten, it could signal an infection in the bladder or kidneys. Less often, it’s due to a metabolic disorder that reduces the body’s ability to fully break down foods during digestion.
Uncontrolled diabetes can cause an abnormally sweet odor, and penicillin can cause a distinctive medicinal odor.
Even if you have no other symptoms, such as pain while urinating, but your urine continues to have an unusually strong smell for more than a couple of days, talk to your doctor.
FOAMY OR BUBBLY
It’s natural to see foam in the toilet when you really have to go and have a heavy stream. But urine that’s consistently foamy or bubbly could mean that you’re losing protein.
What this usually means: Kidney disease. Large amounts of protein in the urine is one of the main signs of chronic kidney disease. See your doctor right away.
MUCUS OR CLOUDY
Mucus in urine could indicate inflammation in the urinary tract.
What this usually means: Urinary tract infection. See your doctor.
Cloudy urine also can be related to infection but often is just an indication that your urine is alkaline, which is harmless at low levels.
VOLUME AND FREQUENCY
The average adult typically urinates four to eight times in 24 hours. A change in the frequency of your urinary habits, including getting up more than twice a night to urinate, or an increase or decrease in the amount that you urinate, warrants attention.
What this usually means: An increase in the frequency of urination, along with an increase in volume, is one of the telltale signs of diabetes.
If the amount of urine seems the same but you’re urinating more often, you could have a urinary tract infection. If this is the case, you’ll probably have very strong urges to urinate even when just a small amount comes out.
Frequency of urination and/or urinary urgency in the absence of a urinary tract infection can indicate an overactive bladder.
In men, enlargement of the prostate gland can trigger urinary urgency. Patients with neurological conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, can also have this symptom.
Don’t worry if there’s been a decrease in the amount or frequency of urination. You probably just need to drink more water. If this doesn’t help, see your doctor.

A Chocolate Lover’s Dream
Has set a new Guinness World Record as the longest chocolate structure in the world.
The sculpture, on display at the busy Brussels South station, is 112-feet (34.05 meters) long and weighs over 2,755 pounds (1250 kilos).
Maltese chocolate artist Andrew Farrugia spent over 700 hours constructing the masterpiece.
He said he came up with the idea of the train last year after visiting the Belgian Chocolate Festival in Bruge: “I had this idea for a while and I said what do you think if we do this realisation of a long chocolate train, you know, because a train you can make it as long as you like.
“Actually it was going to be much smaller than it was, but I kept on adding another wagon, and another wagon, and it’s the size it is today.”
Farrugia had previously built a smaller train of 12 feet for an event in Malta, which he said gave him insight about how to build this much larger version.
There are two parts to the train. The first seven wagons are modelled after the new Belgian trains, and the rest of the train is modelled after the old train wagons, including a wagon with a bar and restaurant on board.
Three days before the event, Farrugia transported the chocolate train by truck in 25 wooden boxes from Malta to Belgium .
Farrugia said the train incurred considerable damage during the drive and several of the train’s walls had completely collapsed.
Luckily, with hardwork and little sleep, the chocolate artist was able to fix all the damages before presenting the train to the public on Monday.
After measuring the length of the train and confirming no material other than chocolate was used,
officials from the Guinness Book of World Records added a new category to the collection of world records and declared the train to be the longest chocolate structure in the world.

After seeing this video I would never buy it as I don’t like anything that comes from polluted waters in Vietnam or China or Bangladesh. You can now cross catfish (BASA fish) off your menu… Just look for the “Made in Vietnam label”.
Most of the Asian markets and restaurants use these fish from the Mekong river! This may also be the steamed white fish fillet they serve in many Chinese restaurants.

5 Ways to Avoid the Flu

How are you faring this flu season? If you’ve managed to dodge the ick that’s going around so far, high five! Here are a few ways that you can make you chances of coasting through flu season unscathed even better and avoid the flu naturally!

Since I’m pregnant, I’ve been feeling a little bit pressured to get a flu shot this season, and honestly I’m torn about it. There seems to be mixed evidence that it helps, and since there are so many varieties of flu, you can get the shot and still end up with the flu, if you’re exposed to a strain that the formulators didn’t account for.
Looking for some shot-free ways to help you avoid the flu? There are some non-medical steps you can take to help equip your body to fight those germs!
1. Wash your hands like it’s your job.
Our hands are powerful germ transmitters. Someone with the flu touches something, you touch that same something, and then you touch your mouth, nose, face, or eyes, and you’ve just given the virus a leg up into your body. Boo!
Of course, you always wash your hands after you use your bathroom, but to avoid flu you’ll want to add a little more hand-washing to your routine. After a trip to the grocery store, for example, wash those hands before you put your food away. Do the same when you get home from work or a night out.
It’s also a good idea to keep your hands away from your face. Your nose, mouth, and eyes are all easy entry points for flu germs. You don’t have to obsessively wash your hands, but if you’re the type of person that touches your face a lot, you may want to do a little extra hand-washing to protect yourself.
2. Take your vitamins.
Vitamina A, C, D, and E all help support your immune system, so make sure you’re getting plenty! Here are the recommended daily allowances for each (for adults):
- Vitamin A – 900 micrograms
- Vitamin C – 75-90 micrograms; take an extra 35 micrograms per day if you smoke
- Vitamin D – 600 IU, but for extra flu protection you might want to up it to 1000 IU
- Vitamin E – 15 milligrams or 22.4 IU
Of course, you can also get more of these vitamins by adding vitamin-rich foods to your diet. Try orange veggies – like carrots and sweet potatoes – for vitamin A, citrus for vitamin C, and avocados for a vitamin E boost. The only one that’s tricky to get through diet is vitamin D. 3. If you can, quarantine!
This can be a tricky one, especially if you work in an office. If your cube-mate or office-mate has the flu, you might strongly suggest that he head home to rest. Yeah, to rest! If you have your own cube or office, try to hide out there, if the flu is going around on your floor.
At home, you can try to keep the sick away by putting some space between you and your sick spouse or roommate. That doesn’t have to mean avoiding them completely, of course! It just means doing what you can to avoid their germs. Maybe don’t sit right next to them while you watch a movie, and if you’re having supper together, now’s a good time for you to volunteer to do the cooking.
When my husband got sick a few months ago, he slept in the guest room to try to keep the germs off of me, since being pregnant and sick totally sucks. I don’t think we would have done something this extreme if I hadn’t been pregnant, but I do think it helped! I managed to avoid getting his cold
4. Get plenty of exercise
You knew exercise was good for your heart, but there’s more and more evidence that it supports a healthy immune system, too!
Moderate exercise can help protect you from the flu, but the key here is moderate. Endurance exercise, like distance running, can actually weaken your immune system, especially if your body isn’t conditioned to it.

If you’re new to exercise, getting started is often the hardest part. It might seem like it’s too expensive to join a gym, or maybe you feel like you just plain don’t have time to fit a workout into your busy schedule. Even 30 minutes a day a few days a week can make a difference in your immune health. Do what you can, and your body will thank you!
5. Cut back on booze.
Too much alcohol can make your immune system less able to fight the flu.
One study looked at how 4-5 drinks a day effects immune health, and it’s probably no surprise that this level of alcohol consumption suppresses immune activity significantly. Of course, 4-5 drinks per day is a lot of boozin’! Like with anything else, it’s all about moderation.
If you want a glass of wine after a tough day, you’re probably not doing anything to harm your immune system, but if you’re a regular drinker, cutting back can make a big difference. Having an occasional drink is fine – in fact, it could even help improve bone health! – but limit yourself to 1-2 drinks, and cut it out completely if you’re feeling run down.

HEART ATTACK
What is a Heart Attack?
A heart attack occurs when the flow of oxygen to a certain part of the heart is blocked; this is normally just a heart muscle. Since the oxygen is transferred through the blood, it means that the flow of blood to that part has been blocked by a clot which could be positioned in the veins.
Symptoms
In most cases, heart attacks can be identified by plain symptoms like short of breath and chest pains. In some cases, the pain could be very severe on the left arm or the upper part of the stomach. This is different from the usual abdominal pains that may be a result of some problem in the stomach as it is highly discomforting and painful.
What to do in case of a heart attack?
When symptoms of a heart attack are observed, it is better to take swift action to save a life. In most cases, the problem easily leads to death because of delayed action. But as soon as it has been suspected there are two modes of treatment that can be taken. The first of the two involves introducing a drug that can dissolve the clot responsible for the blockage so that blood can continue flowing through the affected vein and deliver the oxygen to the heart muscle in question. But in the other method, a specialist doctor or heart surgeon can be called in to enlarge the cross sectional area of the vein to allow more fluid to flow so that the oxygen can reach the affected heart muscle.
How to avoid Heart Attack?
In order to prevent heart attacks there are several steps that can be taken. The first one involves looking at the kind of food you take. The food should have less fat but rich in leafy material and fiber. It is also encouraged that you avoid smoking and take regular exercise. Alcohol should also be avoided to reduce the risks of heart attacks. In the end, you need to make sure that you maintain your weight and you continue going for checkups so that you maintain a healthy heart all the time.
You can avoid heart problems in the future by adopting a healthy lifestyle today. Here are five heart disease prevention tips to get you started.
1. Don’t smoke or use tobacco.
Chemicals in tobacco can damage your heart and blood vessels, leading to narrowing of the arteries (atherosclerosis). The nicotine in cigarette smoke makes your heart work harder by narrowing your blood vessels and increasing your heart rate and blood pressure. The good news, though, is that when you quit smoking, your risk of heart disease drops dramatically within just one year.
2. Exercise for 30 minutes on most days of the week

High blood pressure and high cholesterol can damage your heart and blood vessels. But without testing for them, you probably won’t know whether you have these conditions. Regular screening can tell you what your numbers are and whether you need to take action. Blood pressure. You may need more-frequent checks if your numbers aren’t ideal or if you have other risk factors for heart disease. Optimal blood pressure is less than 120/80 millimeters of mercury.
